What is Hydroclean Technology™?

Hydroclean Technology™ is a next-generation garment care system that's safe for you, your clothes, and the world.

It is the best alternative to drycleaning.

Traditional Dry Cleaners use perchloryethylene (known as dry-cleaning fluid) and petroleum to clean your clothes. These chemicals have been proven to be hazardous to humans and damaging to the environment.

Hydroclean Technology™ has zero exposure risks, hazardous waste, or harmful emissions. All chemicals used are biodegradable, non-toxic, and phosphate-free.

The Reviva Process

is a comprehensive 5-step garment care process utilizing Hydroclean Technology™.
Every Reviva Care Expert is trained and certified before being allowed to handle any items of clothing.

Step 1

1 Inspection

Your Reviva Care Expert will inspect each garment meticulously using a 9-point checklist to select the correct cleaning agents and machine settings. Measurements may be taken to ensure no shrinkage or stretching occurs.

Step 2

2 Treatment

Identified soils, stains and odors will be pre-treated with the appropriate cleaning agent to lift it off the fabric.

Step 3

3 Washing and Drying

Each machine in the washing and drying process is specifically configured to handle the cleaning agent used on the fabric of your garment. Depending on the fabric, your garment may be heat or air-dried.

Step 4

4 Finishing

Once your garment has completely dried, your Reviva Care Expert will add the finishing touches. This may include ironing, steaming, folding, and the like.

Step 5

5 Final Inspection

Before release, your garment will once again be inspected and measured for cleanliness, stains, shrinkage or stretch, and wrinkling.

Should you feel unsatisfied with the quality of care you received, your Reviva Care Expert will gladly address your concerns and repeat the care process, if necessary.

4 What is Hydroclean Technology™ and how is it safer from traditional dry-cleaning?

Percloroehytlene, traditional dry-cleaning fluid, is a toxic chemical classified as industrial waste and an air pollutant.

Exposure to this chemical is highly regulated and an occupational hazard for millions of laundry professionals worldwide. Some studies have shown that long-term exposure to dry-cleaning fluid can cause cancer and Parkinson’s disease.

Cleaning agents developed for Hydroclean Technology™ are biodegradable, non-toxic, and phosphate-free. There are zero wastes and emissions created by the Reviva Process, and there are no safety hazards when exposed to the cleaning agents.

5 What's the difference between Reviva and regular laundry services that offer wash-and-press or hand-washing?

Regular laundry services that offer wash-and-fold, wash-and-press, or even hand-washing services are complementary to Reviva’s more meticulous Hydroclean™ services. We highly recommend that you send your everyday garments to providers like Suds Laundry then send your delicate or special care garments to Reviva.

Garments and fabrics that require extra care include:

  • + suits
  • + gowns
  • + dresses
  • + baby’s garments

Traditional Dry-cleaning and Perchloroethylene

80% of all dry-cleaners use the chemical Perchloroethylene, also knows as "Perc" or "dry-cleaning fluid". It is a chlorinated solvent that is effective at lifting oil-based stains from fabrics.

Research has shown that Perc is hazardous to humans and the environment, and stricter regulations on the use of the chemical for dry-cleaning are being implemented every year.

Hazards of Perc Exposure

Perc can enter the body through respiratory (breathing) or dermal (skin contact) exposure.

Short-term exposure can cause

  • drowsiness
  • nausea
  • itchy eyes
  • coughing

Long-term exposure can cause

  • chronic headaches
  • fatigue
  • vertigo
  • dermatitis
  • central nervous system damage
  • unconsciousness
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • lung, liver, and kidney damage
  • cancer (International Agency for Research on Cancer)
  • Parkinson's disease (The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research)

Due to the effects on the human body, Perc has been classified as an occupational hazard by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Hazard and has been banned by California Air Resources Board.

Perc is classified as a hazardous waste and air pollutant by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

In the United States alone, 3.3-million gallons of Perc a year ends up in groundwater. Perc is toxic to aquatic animals.

When released into the air, Perc can take as long as 6 months to degrade.

It is non-biodegradable, therefore any wastes must be processed with other chemicals for cleaning.
